After a magnificent performance in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh finally reached the Finals to play against India. India has been a consistent top performer in all of Asia Cup but fumbled a little in its last match against Afghanistan which resulted in a tie. As India vs Bangladesh Final is tomorrow, here is a slight overview of Asia Cup so far.
India, undoubtedly the strongest team in Asia Cup has stayed ahead all along. The Indian team had won all the matches it had played from the beginning. The team was in Group A and came out with the highest number of points in the Group Stage as well as from the Super Four Stage. Led by Rohit Sharma, India had reached the finals with ease though it fumbled a bit in the match after it secured its place in the final.
Bangladesh team, the next best team in the tournament had managed to reach the finals after some hardships. The team had been growing strong in the recent years and clearly, its strength has been visible in the first match it played against Sri Lanka. Though the Bangladeshi team faced defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in the Group stage, it retaliated hard in the Super Four Stage and won against Afghanistan and Pakistan to reach the finals.
Afghanistan is clearly the favorite team to enter the Asia Cup and it had become everyone’s favorite and earned massive respect from the other teams simultaneously with its performance in the matches. Defeating Sri Lanka in the very first match, Afghanistan caught everyone’s eye right from the beginning. And while Sri Lanka was defeated by Bangladesh in the Group Stage, Afghanistan stole the spotlight by defeating Bangladesh. Though Bangladesh repaid the favor later, eliminating Afghanistan from the tournament, Afghanistan made India sweat for a victory (which India did not get,-the match was a tie) in its last match of the tournament earning a huge appreciation from all the cricket fans.
Pakistan is another strong team that entered the Asia Cup with a million hopes but failed to deliver. Pakistan was clearly a strong team that stood its ground in most of the matches but was outplayed by Bangladesh in the end.
Sri Lanka is the most under-performed team in Asia Cup 2018. Though equipped with some of the best international players, Sri Lanka which was in Group B, lost both against Bangladesh and Pakistan and retrieved from the tournament after the Group Stage matches.
Hong Kong entered the tournament by defeating UAE in the Asia Cup Qualifiers. The team though failed to perform against Pakistan, managed to score a hefty sum of 259 against India in 50 overs. Hong Kong retrieved from the tournament from the Group Stage itself, but the team definitely managed to capture international attention by participating in Asia Cup 2018.

The final match of Asia Cup between India and Bangladesh is on 28th September 2018 at 05:00 PM IST.
