The biggest multinational cricket tournament that involves all the Asian cricketing giants, the Asia Cup is back. It is set to begin from the 24th of February & the final is scheduled to be played on the 5th of March. The thirteenth edition of this mega event which will be hosted by Bangladesh also has a new twist to it.
With the world T20 looming large in the horizon, the Micromax Asia Cup 2016 will be played in the T20 format for the first time since its inception back in 1985. The hosts Bangladesh will be joined by the reigning Asian champions Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and one other associate nation. Afghanistan, UAE, Oman & Hong Kong will fight for the honors in order to get that fifth spot.
The Indian's have been on a fine run in the shortest form of the game in the last month or two. MS Dhoni's men will look to carry on their supreme form. Pakistan as always are going to be the dark horses. Led by the evergreen Shahid Afridi, Pakistan can get the better of anyone on their day. Bangladesh, will also look to end the reign of the Sri Lankan team as the Asian champions. The Bangla boys who have the likes of Sakib & Musfiqur in their ranks & can prove to be a strong team at their home. Sri Lanka with a nice blend of experience & youth, they will also try to go into the World T20 with their second Asia Cup title in a row.
